The Media Review Network (MRN) is appalled, sickened and deeply concerned at the total disregard for human rights by the Government of Muhammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.
Who will forget the 2016 mass executions of 47 inmates, including a prominent cleric, who criticized the oppressive ruling monarchy for its treatment of marginalized people of the population.
The brutal treatment of dissension could range from lashes, long jail terms, forced extraction of confessions under torment and distress, beheadings and crucifixion.
Saudi Arabia has no respect for human life other then Arab lives. This is no different from the Zionist ideology, which believes that only Zionists are complete human beings. The rest of us are half human and therefore do not deserve to live.
Modern day slavery of migrant labourers from Africa may not be a new phenomenon in that part of the world. However, the Covid19 pandemic has worsened the plight of the African who has ventured into Saudi Arabia and other Arab Gulf countries. They are thrown into concentration camps without any observance of health protocols prescribed by the World Health Organization (WHO) which prevents the spread of the Covid19 virus. These conditions ultimately leads to inevitable death and undignified burials.
Added to this is the fact that the Saudi Judiciary is not independent. Sentencing by the courts, for any reason, is subjected to the whims and fancies of the state.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is immune to any criticism from the United States and other Western countries where it concerns human rights violations and the absence of justice. This makes the west complicit in the gross human rights violations perpetrated by the Kingdom.
The MRN urges the international bodies such as the UN, the AU, the EU and the OIC to insist that the Saudi government respect the human rights of all its people and to ensure that medical care is made affordable and available to all, irrespective of colour, caste or creed. They should also allow international bodies such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch easy access to conduct independent visits without fear or favour.
