We welcome the lawsuit filed by South Africa with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Apartheid Israel’s genocide in Gaza and all of Occupied Palestine.
Mvezo Komkhulu (The Great Place), Saturday 30th December 2023: We welcome the lawsuit filed by South Africa with the International Court of Justice against Apartheid Israel’s genocide in Gaza and all of Occupied Palestine. We must continue to encourage other countries to join in the lawfare and hold Apartheid Israel responsible and accountable for its heinous acts of genocide.
This action formalises a charge of genocide under the ICJ Genocide Convention. The entire world has witnessed the extreme brutality, dehumanisation of the Palestinian people, and expressed intent to exterminate the people of Gaza and its government. This is tantamount to self-confession played out on International mainstream and social media platforms.
We trust that this leadership role that South Africa has played in both the ICC charge as well as the ICJ complaint will be manifested in all other areas of the resistance and that South Africa continues to use its influence in the international solidarity network to advance the Palestinian struggle on all fronts.
This action is as an important milestone in the Palestinian struggle as the declaration of Apartheid as a crime against humanity was in our own struggle in South Africa. We will continue to advocate for the Palestinian struggle on all fronts.
We call on the global legal fraternity to add impetus to South Africa’s initiatives by lobbying all organs of the United Nations especially in the Security Council and General Assembly. In addition, we must push for class action wherever there are corporates or individuals complicit in funding, abetting and contributing to the acts of genocide perpetrated by Apartheid Israel.
In this respect, western imperialism led by the USA and the UK, who knowingly and by intent implicate themselves in the genocide must be held accountable.
We call on activists all over the world to mount pressure on the ICJ to finalize this matter and to consider the immediate measures to be taken as envisaged by the Genocide Convention and hence the action set forth by South Africa.
The Royal House of Mandela (RHoM) is committed to upholding the life and legacy of President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and to give full expression to his commitment made in Gaza in 1997: “that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinian people.”
