We extend our condolences to his family, to the resistance movement and the Palestinian people during this difficult time and re-affirm our full solidarity with all the families of all the martyrs, the prisoners, the displaced, the orphans, the maimed and those struggling under the yoke of the racist Israeli apartheid regime.
We note that the cowardly assassination of Imam Shahid Ismail Haniyeh is a desperate attempt by the failing Israeli regime to silence the voices of freedom, justice and dignity. For months now, the Palestinian negotiators led by Ismail Haniyeh have presented a reasonable proposal for an immediate ceasefire which Israel has rejected.
Unfortunately, instead of engaging with a meaningful roadmap to a cessation of hostilities, Israel has chosen to escalate the conflict into a regional war. The martyrdom of the very loved Imam Shahid Ismail Haniyeh will no doubt reverberate throughout the Arab and Muslim world.
