The Al-Dameer Association for Human Rights in Gaza called on Tlaleng Mofokeng, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to health, to intervene immediately to protect hospitals and healthcare workers in Gaza from systematic targeting by the Israeli occupation.

In a statement, the organisation asserted that deliberate policies of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement of residents are being carried out openly in front of everyone with no genuine or effective intervention to halt the ongoing genocide in northern Gaza.

The statement emphasised that the direct and intentional targeting of hospitals and healthcare workers constitutes a war crime under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court of 1998.

The international community has a legal and humanitarian responsibility to safeguard the right to health, pressure the occupation to lift its siege on hospitals and ensure the provision of necessary medical supplies, it added.
