RAMADAN MESSAGE 1446

Salamun Alaik to all. Majority of Muslims look forward to this period of SAUM, which is loosely translated as Fasting, that is abstention from eating & Drinking as lawful sex; as clearly indicated in the Quran (2:183). The Greatness of this period of Saum, is what Allah expects all Muslims and largely all of mankind to behave in a restrictive manner and by so doing get the psyche accustomed to the idea of being so throughout one’s life. At the very outset we, Muslims are told that righteousness is to have Eiman in Allah, His Decrees and Laws, the  Day of Accountability, and the Malaika, all the Revealed Books, the Ambiya, Messengers of Allah with total sincerity and thus being aware of all of mankind who need to be helped in ways that the M’umin can. We have to be aware of all the needs of mankind. The concept of Saum is linked in Taqwa-being conscious of Allah and His laws and how it needs to be applied for our benefit of all of mankind.

Although restrictions in eating, drinking and marital relations are emphasized by those who practice Saum, one should not forget that this Saum encompasses our actions throughout our lives and it includes all our activities in a way that it develops our Nafs. The concept of Saum directs us not only of those who are hungry but to be aware of and cater for all mankind that face hardships, torment, oppression and any kind of action that hurts or hinders progress as the thousands that have been killed in Philistine, Lebanon, Syria, Kashmir, Sudan, Ethiopia and the rest of the world wherein humans are not treated as they should be. We are part of those who are aware of these situations and we do our best and expect all Muslims and generally all of mankind to ensure that we make all aware and render assistance as expected of us by Allah.  We hope & Make Dua individually, as an organisation and as a community that Allah strengthens us to render any kind of assistance to ameliorate the position of those in distress throughout the world, Insha Allah. Thus, Ramadan Mubarak to all.
