GLOBAL SUMUD FLOTILLA SOUTH AFRICA DELEGATES RETURN TO SOUTH AFRICA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GLOBAL SUMUD, SOUTH AFRICA

Global Sumud Flotilla South Africa is pleased to announce that the six South African delegates who travelled on board the Global Sumud Flotilla mission to break the siege on Gaza will be returning this Saturday, 23 May 2026.

These courageous South Africans formed part of the 482 member global civilian-led humanitarian mission to deliver life saving aid and food to the people of Gaza who have lived, died, and resisted under illegal blockade on Gaza that the Israeli regime has maintained since 2007 and which has been compounded by the ongoing genocide in Palestine. The goal of the mission remains to open a humanitarian sea corridor, break the siege, and end the genocide. En route to Gaza, the humanitarian activists were abducted in international waters by the Israeli Military and imprisoned without charge in K’tziot Prison, Occupied Palestine. We are pleased to welcome them home as we continue the work of the global majority who stand up against imperialism, apartheid, settler colonialism, and genocide wherever we see it. The fight for freedom and justice of all oppressed people continues. Aluta Continua.
