From time to time I ask myself: what would happen if the world’s governments decided to abolish all their spy agencies simultaneously?

True, it would be a great blow to the authors and movie producers who make their living from secret service stories. Their products would lose their appeal.

It would be a disaster for the huge army of fans which gobbles up spy adventures, the enthusiastic consumers of books and movies about superhuman heroes like James Bond and super-devious geniuses like John La Carre’s Smiley.

But what would be the real damage if Washington stopped spying on Moscow and Moscow stopped spying on Washington, and both on Beijing? The result would be a draw. Immense sums of money would be saved, since a large part of the efforts of every spy agency is devoted to obstructing the intrigues of the competition. How many diseases could be overcome? How many hungry people fed, how many illiterates taught to read and write?

How zionist lobby stooges in congress brought shame to their institution

As expected, the U.S. House of Representatives voted, on Tuesday 3 November, by 344 votes to 36, to urge the Obama administration to oppose endorsement of the Goldstone Report. But for those who are interested in truth and justice, not to mention democracy, the highlight of what passed for debate was the two-minute contribution of Dennis Kucinich, the Democratic Party’s representative for Ohio’s 10th district (and a starter candidate for the Democratic nomination for the presidency in 2004 an 2008).

Today we journey from Operation Cast Lead to Operation Cast Doubt. Almost as serious as committing war crimes is covering up war crimes, pretending that war crimes were never committed and did not exist.
Because behind every such deception is the nullification of humanity, the destruction of human dignity, the annihilation of the human spirit, the triumph of Orwellian thinking, the eternal prison of the dark heart of the totalitarian. “Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has reached a secret understanding with the Obama administration over U.S. recognition of an independent Palestinian state” within the 1967 borders, according to a Nov. 8, 2009 article published in Israel’s daily Haaretz, which cited a “classified, unreleased” portion of the Fayyad plan to bolster Palestinian institutions. The Arab League, major European countries and the United Nations Security Council would also recognize this unilateral Palestinian declaration of independence. (For more information see www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1126594.html.)

We urge President Barack Obama to recognize an independent Palestinian state as soon as possible and send a long-awaited message in front of the Rafah Gate to end the crippling siege of Gaza.

South African Muslims have given the thumbs up to the making of a movie on the life of Prophet Muhammad by a Hollywood producer.

Local Muslims threw their weight behind the international project after learning that leading Muslim scholar Sheik Yusuf Al Qaradhawi of Egypt would be working closely with the film’s Oscar-winning producer Barrie Osborne, who made box-office hits like Lord of the Rings and The Matrix.
