Assassins Made Vital Errors When Carrying Out Dubai Hotel Murder

By Jane Corbin

Up in the second-floor corridor, a middle-aged guest was nonchalantly returning to his room, number 230. When he opened the door, there were four men – all highly trained killers, all wearing baseball caps – waiting for him.

They quickly overpowered the unsuspecting guest, and jabbed a needle in his leg. It contained succinylcholine, a muscle relaxant used in anaesthetics. Quick-acting and powerful, it began to paralyse the victim’s muscles – his breathing would soon stop, then his heart.

But the hitmen could not wait for its effects to run their course; time was of the essence as they were afraid of discovery.Through the spy hole in the door they could see maids and porters passing in the corridor, and they knew the unblinking eyes of CCTV cameras had already recorded their movements in the public parts of the hotel.

Goldbergs bogus ticking clock on Iran

(source: Tony Karon Blog – Rootless Cosmopolitan)

America’s march to a disastrous war in Iraq began in the media, where an unprovoked U.S. invasion of an Arab country was introduced as a legitimate policy option, then debated as a prudent and necessary one. Now, a similarly flawed media conversation on Iran is gaining momentum.

Last month, TIME’s Joe Klein warned that Obama administration sources had told him bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities was “back on the table.” In an interview with CNN, former CIA director Admiral Mike Hayden next spoke of an “inexorable” dynamic toward confrontation, claiming that bombing was a more viable option for the Obama administration than it had been for George W. Bush. The pièce de résistance in the most recent drum roll of bomb-Iran alerts, however, came from Jeffrey Goldberg in the Atlantic Monthly. A journalist influential in U.S. pro-Israeli circles, he also has access to Israel’s corridors of power. Because sanctions were unlikely to force Iran to back down on its uranium enrichment project, Goldberg invited readers to believe that there was a more than even chance Israel would launch a military strike on the country by next summer.

Press statemental qaeda link in attack on cop

The Media Review Network finds it deplorable that Graeme Hosken resorts to sensationalism in his article in the Pretoria News (21 December 2010) titled: “Al Qaeda link in attack on cop.”

Conjecture and speculation, especially revolving around unsubstantiated reports on the existence of armed Al Qaeda militants in South Africa is viewed by us as unwarranted linkage to crime.

Whilst we condemn the criminal activities of thugs involved in outrageous murders of innocent people, especially the tragic killing of police officials, we find it unacceptable for journalists to raise fear and alarm regarding unverified allegations by faceless sources in respect of Al Qaeda.

We call on the Minister of State Security, Mr Siyabonga Cwele to probe these allegations and to issue a public statement on the veracity of these charges.

In the light of the controversy raging around the Deewani murder, we are concerned that reports such as this one by Graeme Hosken will contribute to tarnishing South Africa’s image, especially if right-wing media in Britain and elsewhere use it a source of proof that Al Qaeda poses huge threats to safety and security in South Africa.
