Gaza Shame Taints Holocaust Memorial

Feeling stained by Israeli crimes against the civilian population of the bombed-out Gaza Strip, two prominent French-American Jews are demanding the removal of their relatives names from Israel’s famous Holocaust memorial.

"We ask that our grandmother’s name be removed from the wall at Yad Vashem," Michael Neumann and his brother Osha wrote to Israeli President Shimon Peres, also director of Yad Vashem museum.

SRINAGAR, Apr 2: Union home secretary, Madhukar Gupta and defence secretary, Vijay Singh arrived here today.
They are scheduled to attend a high level security meeting tomorrow morning. Besides chief minister Omar Abdullah, heads of various security and intelligence agencies and police chief will take part in the meeting, official sources said.

Gupta and Singh are here to monitor the situation in view of the Lok Sabha elections and particularly after the increase in encounters along LoC and hinterland. The incidents led to the killing of nearly two dozen militants and eight army personnel including an officer.

(Washington, DC) – US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton should speak out forcefully against Israel’s blockade of Gaza as unlawful collective punishment against the civilian population, Human Rights Watch said in a letter to Clinton today. As the major political, military, and financial backer of Israel, the United States should press its ally to abide by international law, Human Rights Watch said.
