The media may revel in a Mossad hit, yet Britain’s response to a plot that could threaten its own citizens has been craven

Imagine for a moment what the reaction would be if Iranian intelligence was almost unversally believed to have assassinated a leader of one of the organisations fighting the Tehran government in a western-friendly state. Then consider how Britain, let alone the US, might respond if the killers had carried out the operation using forged or stolen passports of citizens of four European states, including Britain, with dual Iranian nationality.

You can be sure it would have triggered a major international storm, stentorian declarations about the threat of state-sponsored terrorism, and perhaps a debate at the UN security council, with demands for harsher sanctions against an increasingly dangerous Islamic republic.

RIYADH // Rizana Nafeek’s indigent family fell on hard times when civil war forced her father, a Sri Lankan woodcutter, to stop going to his traditional cutting forest.

Salvation seemed to appear, however, when a local recruiter suggested that Nafeek, then 17, go to work as a housemaid in Saudi Arabia. The agent put a false birth date on her passport so officials would not see that she was underage.

But now Nafeek faces a death sentence after being convicted of murdering a four-month-old infant put in her care by the Saudi family who hired her in 2005.

Scandal in goa as Isaraeli drug dealer boasts of police corruption on youtube

The story has all the elements of an airport potboiler: a tropical beach setting; a heavily tattooed Israeli drugs dealer; a handful of corrupt detectives; and a Swedish model-cum-Bollywood dancer who goes by the name of “Lucky”.

When Yaniv Banaim, an Israeli drugs dealer working in the western Indian state of Goa, boasted to a pneumatic Swedish blonde of how he regularly received large amounts of cannabis and ecstasy from the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the local police force, he did not suspect that he was being filmed. He certainly did not expect the woman in question — Lucky Nova Mangarda Amori — to post the incriminating footage on YouTube.

The confession — which contained a detailed explanation of how drugs confiscated by the ANC are allegedly sold back to dealers in Goa — has sparked a corruption scandal that threatens to expose several senior police chiefs. For now, six ANC officers have been suspended while corruption and drugs charges are investigated.

MRN saddened by death of Ayatollah Sayyed Fadlullah

The Media Review Network is saddened with the news of the demise of the Islamic luminary and leader Ayotollah Muhammed Husseini Fadlallah, on Sunday, 4th July, at the age of 75 years, in Lebanon.Sayyed Fadlullah served as a highly influential beacon of truth for all the oppressed peoples of the world.

He often explained that Judaism, Christianity and Islam were all Divine religions. However he always differentiated between a Jew anywhere in the world and the Zionists that came to Palestine and occupied the Holy Land.

He supported the ideals of Iran’s Islamic Revolution and advocated the corresponding Islamic movement in Lebanon. In his sermons, he called for armed resistance to the Israeli occupations of Lebanon, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, along with opposition to the existence of Israel.

He once said that the slogan "land for peace‌ was a betrayal of Palestinian blood and of the sacred cause of Palestine." His extensive charitable works added to his popularity. Sayyed Fadlullah established a network of schools and orphanages in poorer suburbs of Beirut and in southern Lebanon. His outspoken political views made him a target.

A 200kg car bomb exploded near Fadlallah’s Beirut home in 1985. He was unharmed, but dozens of people were killed in a nearby apartment building, which was demolished by the blast.

Bob Woodward, an American investigative journalist, linked the blast to the US Central Intelligence Agency, though US officials have long denied any involvement.

Dr Anver Suliman of the MRN had the honour of meeting with the esteemed Ayatollah in Beirut in 2001. His erudition and spiritual advice will be missed by many, but his legacy of justice for the worlds oppressed will remain an inspiration forever.
