The Media Review Network (South Africa) expresses deep concern and alarm regarding the recent platform given to US embassy officials at a local educational institution.

The United States Administration has spearheaded campaigns of Islamophobia and occupation under the Bush regime. This policy has been perpetuated and intensified under the war president, Obama. The revelations of blatant Islamophobia in military training manuals calling for the destruction of Islam’s holiest sites, the unrelenting support of the zionist regime as they threaten and violate the sanctity of Islam’s third holiest site, the Al Aqsa compound with incursions and settlements and well as systematic desecration of Islam’s Holy Book, the Quraan, has all occurred under the watchful eye of the US administration. The expansion of US drone campaigns into Somalia and now Mali as well as their illegal rendition and torture campaign within Africa is a damning indictment against the US administration.

It is a tragic day when criminals covered in the blood of thousands of innocent men, women, children and decorated with the screams of the tortured and raped are brought to our institutions of learning to be glorified. We call on people of conscience to protest these deplorable acts and reject the compromising of our values of justice, the rejection of Islamophobia, oppression, torture and rape for material gain.
