Jewish Plots Against Israeli-Arabs

IslamOnline.net & News Agencies

The head of the Islamic Movement in Israel, Sheikh Raed Salah, said Thursday, March 13, he had received tips that ultra-nationalist Jews were plotting to assassinate him after extremist rabbis authorized the killing of Arabs following last week’s attack on a hardline Jewish seminary.

“The information I received is from a reliable source and we have passed it on to the Jerusalem district police,” Salah told the Israeli Arabic-language A-shams radio.

Salah denied inventing the story to skip police questioning over a speech he made in February last year urging Arabs and Muslims to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque from destructive Israeli digging.

“I have been questioned in the past and I will continue to be questioned. I have also been behind bars.”

Salah, who served as mayor of the Israeli-Arab city of Umm al-Fahm in the 1990s, was arrested in 2003 on charges of funding the resistance group Hamas.

He was released two years later to spell the beans about the humiliation and abuses of Palestinian detains in Israeli jails.

The Islamic Movement said Salah, a champion of Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque, will have from now on round-the-clock protection.

Salah has been sounding the alarm over the Israeli excavations near and under Islam’s third holiest shrine for years.

He revealed this January plans to build a colossal synagogue at the heart of Al-Haram Al-Sharif and contiguous to Al-Aqsa, the heart of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Salah also leads a courageous campaign to protect Al-Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) from Israel’s schemes to change its demographic and Islamic identity.

License to Kill

Islamic Movement spokesman Zahy Nujeidat said extremist rabbis have given religious edict authorizing the killing of Salah and other Israeli Arabs after last week’s attack on the hardline Jewish seminary Merkaz Harav.

“As soon as the decree came out, we at the Islamic Movement understood that the figure in question was Sheikh Salah,” Nujeidat told Israeli Yedioth Ahranoth.

According to the Israeli public television, two influential rabbis, including one from Harav, met earlier this week with a group of former students who have combat experience in the Israeli army to discuss reprisal.

It said one of the envisaged revenge targets was an Arab figure linked to Al-Aqsa mosque.

“A prominent figure connected with the Al-Aqsa Mosque it can only be the Sheikh (Salah),” said Nujeidat.

A group of rightist rabbis on Wednesday called on Jews to avenge the school and the killed students, Haaretz reported.

In notices posted along Kiryat Moshe neighborhood, near the school, the rabbis wrote: “Each and everyone is required to imagine what the enemy is plotting to do to us, and to match it measure for measure.”

The Merkaz Harav is considered the historical seat of learning of Zionism and man-made Talmud, which contains several texts inciting hatred against Arabs and non-Jews.

The Talmudical academy graduated generations of ultra-orthodox Jews, some of whom are today’s leaders.
