Press Release

Media Review Network’s Support for “Egyptians Against the Siege”

The Media Review Network is pleased to announce that a convoy made up of various organisations of civil society in Egypt will embark on a ground breaking journey to challenge the Israeli blockade of Gaza. Named “Egyptians against the Siege”, the group will leave for the Rafah Border post on Wednesday 10th September 2008, which is also the 10th day of the Holy Month of Ramadaan.

In solidarity with the “Egyptians against the Siege” the Media Review Network has dispatched one of its senior reporters, Tahir Sema, to Cairo to report on the progress of this highly laudable and humanitarian trip. He flew out on Sunday and is presently in contact with the organisers of the journey. He may be contacted on his mobile number:

It has been widely recognised that governments and international organisations have turned a blind eye to the plight of the people of Gaza. The United Nations in particular is guilty of this dereliction of duty to human kind. Therefore it is left to civil society to take up the cudgels on behalf of the starving multitudes imprisoned in Gaza.
