Met with high ranking officials from the State Security Agency (SSA) on 10th June 2010The meeting culminated from concerns arising from recent media reports suggesting a terror threat to the 2010 Soccer World Cup by Muslims.

The discussions were frank and both parties agreed that it was imperative that the hosting of the 2010 Soccer World Cup by South Africa not be disrupted by any unlawful and criminal conduct by any individuals or groups.

Both parties agreed on the importance for channels of communication to be kept open between the SSA and the Muslim community.

The UMF made it clear that to its knowledge, there was no threat to the 2010 Soccer World Cup from the local and international Muslim community.  The UMF was categorical that there is no justification for any local or international Muslims to jeopardize the 2010 Soccer World Cup and the safety of those who are attending the World Cup tournament.

The UMF welcomes the assurance by the SSA that they are in full control of security for the 2010 Soccer World Cup and that they have investigated every possible threat, including, but not limited to, local threats, foreign threats, third force elements and opportunistic crime.
