The Media Review Network South Africa (MRN) along with the family members and loved ones of the #SAinGaza delegation breathe a sigh of relief as the news of their departure from Gaza through the Rafah Crossing has emerged. As they make their way back home via Cairo; we eagerly await their arrival on South African soil.
The sterling efforts of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) have secured the safe passage of the 19 member delegation from the Gaza Strip. As we find solace in the news of their safe departure from Gaza; our hearts, thoughts and prayers reside with those still trapped in the coastal sliver as a result of the brutal siege.
Hours of anticipation and anxiety weighed heavily on our hearts as we awaited the news of our countrymen’s safe departure. As 2013 transformed into a new year, Israel sought to remind the Gazan population of the carnage of Operation Cast Lead (2008-2009) as they bombed Khan Yunis and systematically sonic boomed Gaza’s airspace.
This systematic brutalisation of the Palestinian population of Gaza reaffirms our resolve to seek justice and peace. To restore dignity to a besieged people and an occupied nation.
End the Siege! End the Occupation
