The Media Review Network (South Africa) condemns the vile attacks on the sanctity of the Al Aqsa compound and the worshippers it contains. Persistent attacks by Zionist extremists protected by the Apartheid Israeli Police apparatus is a direct attack on the sensitivities of not only Muslim Palestinians but Christian Palestinians as well.

The recent incursion which violated the sanctity of the Al Aqsa compound contained members of the Israeli Knesset (Parliament). It would be short-sighted to view these actions as anything short of provocation. We draw the attention of the readers of this press statement to the incursion in 2000 lead by the Butcher of Sabra and Shatila, Arik Scheinermann (Ariel Sharon) that sparked the Second Intifada. We view the provocations being conducted under the protection of the Apartheid security forces of the Israeli state as nothing more than an attempt to enrage not only the Palestinian people but the entire region as well as conscious Muslims. The aim being merely to deflect attention off the ceasefire talks and to manufacture some support from the Israeli population after the staggering defeat suffered by the Israel Defence Force at the hands of the Palestinian resistance.

We call on all governments to condemn these vile actions and provocations. We further implore our government to take firm action against the Israeli state as they continue to undermine peace, stability and accountability.
