Hypocrisy at its Best

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is in South Africa as the keynote speaker for the 2015 Annual African Mining Indaba. Ironically, his visit to SA coincides with the visit of Palestinian liberation icon Leila Khaled.

Blair, as most avid news readers would know, was heavily involved in the so-called ‘war on terror’ and the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. The result of these ‘wars’ has been the total carnage of human lives of the indigenous Afghanis, Pakistanis, Iraqis and Palestinians. Blair together with his western allies have been responsible for the destruction of infrastructures and the killing and maiming of the largest number of human lives ever witnessed. Needless to say the repercussions thereafter of so-called western democracy and freedom implemented in these countries has been an utter and total failure. In essence, Blair and his western allies have been the largest contributors to state terrorist acts.

It is curious though that Blair’s visit has been met with warm and welcoming arms while the visit of Khaled was met with disdain and resistance from many quarters. Khaled has been referred to as a terrorist whereas Blair and his ilk are responsible for the most sophisticated terror machinery ever assembled in the history of mankind.

Who is the terrorist? Who is the freedom fighter?
