Detained South African to return home.
Wits student and South African citizen, Laeeqa Sujee is being deported from Israel following her unlawful detention by the Netanyahu regime.
Prior to the official confirmation received from DIRCO, Sujee’s family received an email from her. Her brief message said she was being flown out at midnight.
This was subsequently confirmed by Israeli immigration via the South African Embassy.
She will depart Ben-Gurion International Airport at 00h45 on flight ET405 via Addis Ababa.
Since her arrest this morning, Sujee has been held in solitary confinement. Her plans to participate in the Palestinian youth camp have been unjustly sabotaged by Israel’s immoral conduct.
The PSAYL anticipate her arrival at OR Tambo on Sunday and wish to invite media to a press conference scheduled for 14h30.
We also call on supporters and Palestinian solidarity activists to give Laeeqa Sujee a rousing welcome.
