Osama Hamdan: US must stop supporting Israel to end regime’s aggression

Osama Hamdan, a Lebanon-based Hamas leader

A senior leader of the Palestinian resistance movement Palestinian resistance movement says the war will not “end as the Israeli enemy has envisioned.”

Osama Hamdan, who is Hamas’s representative in Lebanon and also a member of the group’s politburo, said the conclusion of this confrontation “will be in favor of the resistance.”

“If the mediators want to end the aggression, the United States must stop supporting the entity,” he added.

Hamdan made these remarks in an interview with Hezbollah’s Al-Manar news channel on Sunday.

“Our position is clear, and we are not waiting for a discussion on new papers and titles,” he said referring to talks that were held between mediators to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

“There is a document we have agreed on, and we are waiting for the announcement of implementation mechanisms, including the cessation of aggression, its withdrawal, aiding the Strip, and launching reconstruction,” he added.

Hamas has reportedly accepted an Egyptian-Qatari proposal, which includes a ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, an exchange of prisoners, reconstruction of the territory, and the lifting of Israel’s blockade.

However, Israel rejected the ceasefire deal, with prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying a withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Gaza Strip would “leave Hamas intact.”

Hamdan said, “Israelis want to escape the obligation of a ceasefire.”

“The Zionists have a flawed assessment, believing the resistance is weakened, but the battlefield confirms that it fights as fiercely as in the first days,” he added.

“We won’t believe Netanyahu has agreed to the deal until he stops committing crimes and withdraws his forces from the Gaza Strip,” he added.

He went on to say that “we have taken several measures, most notably the agreement reached with the Fatah movement in China which will be the cornerstone of any new arrangements.”

“We are firm in our stance that the ceasefire, withdrawal of the occupation, relief, reconstruction, and complete prisoner exchange must occur,” the Hamas official said.

“The worst thing Netanyahu faces today is that every time he thinks he is making a step towards victory, he sinks deeper,” he said.

“Our message is clear: we are defending our rights, our land, our people, and our future. This defense will take all forms and tools. The real solution lies in ending the occupation, not in seeking solutions that lead to further escalation,” the resistance leader said.

“What is happening in the region will have a strategic impact, and the resistance has its options, tools, and capabilities that people have always known,” he added.

“We anticipate a victory and an achievement for the resistance in the region and for its entire Axis. This nation will witness an accomplishment it once thought impossible,” he said.

“The Iranian response at any moment will affect the course of the struggle with the enemy, whether it precedes or follows the negotiations. If it occurs before the negotiations, its message will be significant,” he noted.

On July 31, Israel with the support of the US assassinated Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas resistance group, who was in Tehran to attend Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s swearing-in ceremony.

The terrorist act followed another assassination by the Zionist regime that targeted Fuad Shukr, a senior commander of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, in Beirut.
