Child of Gaza

By Iqbal Suleman

Oh Child of Gaza, gentle and sweet

Walking planet earth with angels feet

With smooth, soft and delicate olive skin

Emitting a sanguine scent from heaven

Oh Child of Gaza with eyes bright

In the ghetto, radiating light

Dreamy thoughts of peace and love

You are gentler than a dove

Oh Child of Gaza motherless

Remembering that dark night atrocious

The bomb that blew mama’s body apart

And you trembled with a shattered heart

Oh child of Gaza fatherless

Remembering the Israeli bombing ferocious

That left papa’s body headless

You shook with terror, speechless

Oh child of Gaza, going insane

Bloodied images etched in your brain

The suffering cries that pierce your ears

Over and over, these deathly sounds you hear

Oh child of Gaza, with terrified eyes

Rivers of tears have made them dry

All the horrors you were made to see

From your mind you cannot flee

Oh Child of Gaza, by the world forsaken

By your brothers and sisters in faith abandoned

Millions of people march and speak for you

But not one country has come to save you

Oh child of Gaza butchered and broken

As your bloodied body ascends to heaven

Legless and headless you freely fly

Through the seven heavens as angels cry

Oh Child of Gaza, you will have your day

Before the Most Just you will have your say

On that day it will not be you who will shiver

But every complicit and guilty baby killer

Oh Child of Gaza, whose voice was silenced

Denied freedom and earthly justice

When every person will have to account

When God will ask for what crime you were killed

Oh Child of Gaza, you must wonder

What maketh the mind of a baby killer?

Yet even Satan is somewhat bewildered

At the audacious conduct of the baby killer

Oh Child of Gaza who is yet to live

In every waking minute wishing for death

Alone in the midst of the vicious Genocide

America, Arabia, and Europe all on Israel’s side

Oh Child of Gaza whose stomach cried

At the very moment that you died

In pristine form you were created

But in death all your limbs were decimated

Oh Child of Gaza, gentle and beautiful

Lived in a world callous and cruel

You were too innocent for this earthly planet

You were too beautiful to live with Zionists

Oh Child of Gaza, Liberated and Free

Standing in Kauthar next to the olive tree

Singing from the river to sea

I am Free, Palestine is Free
