The leaders of the 6th most powerful army in the world
Fresh from the blood-soaked lands of Lebanon
Syria and the killing fields of Gaza
Now tremble at the written words and a few gifts bags
Putting on their megaphones they threatened to end the ceasefire deal
To seal the prisoner – captives deal
All because the graffiti of defiance
Loomed large all over Gaza
For fifteen months and more ..
Did not the occupiers forces boogie to the tunes of the genocidal soundtracks
Their lust for dust as they intombed life, limb and property
And what of those cowardly soldiers
Who routinely tik-toked their victims
playing with their toys, pans and that red lingerie
Yes …that was before the ghost of Hind Rajab fingered them on Facebook
Now they are the running dogs of genocide just like
Mengele, Eichman and the other scoundrels of our painful history
Hasbara has been downed
by the inexpensive intifada of words
And the graffiti of defiance
As healthy captives smile, laugh and wave
one even kissed the head of a fighter on stage
Not far away
Emaciated and tortured Palestinian political prisoners kiss the soil
Who can forget comrade Karim Younis
One of the worlds longest serving political prisoners
Forty years in the dungeons of the vindictive
A few months ago, we still recall their great escape with ululation
After a brief taste of freedom, on their arrest
Were charged / punished for desiring freedom over a maximum prison
Whilst the the modest spoon stood defiant
Of the banners in Gaza and they were aplenty
Banners shot up everywhere amidst the war zones called home
so that those who refuse to see the apocalypse cannot deny it
The words that sting behind the backdrop of fallen martyrs
“We can change the course of history,”
“We are the flood, we are the extreme strength,”
“Red freedom has a door, struck by every bloodied hand.”
In Deir al-Balah city, the banner unfolded
with the Hebrew phrase beloved by Zionist leaders “Total victory,”
whilst those martyrs to fell
in defence of the motherland bordered the posters
This banner adorned the flag of Palestine and the clenched fist
whispering aloud, in Arabic, Hebrew and English (so all can understand)
“We are the flood … we are the next day,”
…this revolution is still live, like the genocide
In case they choose to forget
the captives have designer made Hamas gift bags filled with goodies
key rings, their photos, wooly hats and a map of Gaza and their clearance certificate
Emblazoned on the bag in Hebrew:“Zionism will not prevail”
last week the remains of their dearly departed captives too carried a message
featuring the vampire Netanyahu over the four dead captives:
“the war criminal Netanyahu and his Nazi Army killed them with missiles from Zionist warplanes”
Thus read the graffiti of truth
Writing history on the ruins and the rubble is never easy
- But it is home
