*F**U – A poem*

By Hassen Lorgat

Pardon my choice words

for the Genocider-in-Chief who recalls Amalek as his war cry,

whose war cabinet “democratically votes” to starve a caged people,

Whilst his president tells his troops: “There are no innocents in Gaza.”

Pardon my choice of words

while the fugitive unconfronted, flees from international law,

his foot soldiers, here and there, are affronted by my jaw-jaw.

But this I know:

the serial killer is loose

and hides in plain sight.

…while my heart appears weak,

my soul scarred by betrayal,

my mouth refuses to be complicit—

schooled in the township science

of Resistance and Ubuntu.

I will not be muted

So I say: Bua! Khuluma, Speak!

Bua, Sista. Bua!

Bua ke molomo wa gago!

…Speak! It is your mouth!

I am compelled to speak truth to those above

When in Gaza skin and bones walk in death’s path

While street dogs grow fat

the dogs of war reap their spoils in vaults of banks of the rich

This Black Woman will not be silenced

Say it out loud!

I’m Black and I’m proud!

F**k U, Net ‘n Jan Who…
