PALESTINE – On the anniversary of the Isra’ and Mi’raj anniversary, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) issued a statement on Thursday reiterating that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque remains the central front in the Palestinian struggle, calling for unified action from the Islamic Ummah to protect the holy site, and reiterating its historical responsibility towards it.
“Al-Aqsa Mosque is the title of the struggle with the Zionist enemy,” the statement also said, “and it will remain, as it always was, purely Islamic. All the occupation’s attempts to divide it and obliterate its landmarks will fail.”
The statement added that “the Al-Aqsa Flood was a historical milestone that placed the [Islamic] Ummah before its responsibilities to defend Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to move to protect them from the danger of Zionist plans.”
The statement concluded by calling on Islamic leaders, governments, and peoples to fulfill their duty towards Al-Aqsa Mosque, to support the steadfastness of Palestinians in Jerusalem, and to back the Palestinian people’s “legitimate struggle to reclaim their rights and liberate their land.”
