Al-Qassam spokesperson says conflict has entered regional phase, warns of broader escalation and calls for intensified resistance.
Key Developments
- Abu Obeida says war has expanded beyond Gaza into regional confrontation.
- He warns of escalation linked to Al-Aqsa and prisoners issue.
- He praises regional actors and calls for unity and mobilization.
‘Pivotal Stage’
Abu Obeida, the military spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, said that current developments mark a pivotal stage in the region, describing what he called a “savage Zionist-American attack” targeting the nation’s capabilities and identity.
In a televised address on Sunday, Abu Obeida said the confrontation is no longer confined to Gaza, but has expanded across multiple arenas as part of a broader struggle over the future of the region.
He described the situation as a “comprehensive military aggression” that violates international law and targets the will of peoples and their right to self-determination.
Abu Obeida said the “war of genocide” in Gaza has extended beyond the Strip to include Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, and Syria.
He said this expansion reflects a deliberate widening of the conflict, warning that the current trajectory points to a broader regional confrontation.
“We are facing an armed military aggression and blatant bullying that aims to change the concepts of the Islamic religion, eliminate the present and future of the Islamic nation, and tear up the United Nations Charter with shells and missiles,” Abu Obeida said.
The military spokesman also criticized the “international silence,” accusing major powers of applying double standards, particularly in pressuring Palestinians to uphold ceasefire terms while Israel does not comply.
Gaza Conditions and Negotiation Warnings
Addressing conditions in Gaza, Abu Obeida referred to the continued Israeli military operations, including attacks on civilians and infrastructure, as well as restrictions on humanitarian aid and border crossings.
He warned against attempts to impose new conditions on the resistance through negotiations, particularly regarding disarmament, stating that such demands “are rejected.”
He said “outcomes not achieved through military force would not be imposed politically.”
Al-Aqsa and Prisoners at Center of Escalation
The statement also focused on developments related to Al-Aqsa Mosque, citing what he described as increased restrictions on worshippers, as well as legislation concerning Palestinian prisoners.
Abu Obeida called for mass mobilization in Palestine and abroad, urging protests and solidarity actions. He warned that any developments related to Al-Aqsa or prisoners could have wider regional repercussions.
Abu Obeida stressed that any harm to al-Aqsa Mosque or Palestinian prisoners “will not pass without response,” calling for mass mobilization in defense of both.
Regional Dimension and Alliances
Abu Obeida praised what he described as responses from regional actors against Israel, and expressed solidarity with Lebanon, commending Hezbollah’s role.
He said these developments form part of a broader confrontation, which he linked to the Al-Aqsa Flood, arguing that it has reshaped the dynamics of the conflict.
Abu Obeida warned of what he described as plans to reshape the region at the expense of its people, calling for unity and an end to internal divisions.
He said the conflict will continue, adding that while the balance of power may shift, the outcome will ultimately be determined by the people on the ground.
