Al-Aqsa Facing "Real, Immediate” Danger

Al-Aqsa
Continuing Israeli excavation threaten the foundation of the Haram al-Sharif and Al-Aqsa.

OCCUPIED AL-QUDS – Palestinians are sounding the alarm that Israel’s continuing excavation works beneath the Haram al-Sharif (Noble sanctuary) in Al-Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) is posing a "real and immediate" danger to its Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest shrine.

"Israeli excavations and continuing digging right beneath the Haram al Sharif’s esplanade have already caused irreparable damage to the stability of Al-Aqsa Mosque’s foundations," Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the Islamic Movement, told IslamOnline.net.

According to the Israeli press, US President Barak Obama promised Prime Minister Netanyahu that he would maintain the current understandings between the two countries regarding Israel’s nuclear program.

Before the Obama-Netanyahu summit, at an International Atomic Energy Agency meeting, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, Rose Gottemoeller, declared that Israel, Pakistan, India, and North Korea should sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. These are the only four recognized sovereign states that are not parties to the treaty.

Open letter to pakistan high commissioner

Your Excellency

The High Commissioner

The Pakistan High Commission

PRETORIA

The Media Review Network (MRN) observes with deep consternation  the present crisis playing itself out in Pakistan. The humanitarian catastrophe that has been precipitated by the Pakistan Government’s military operation against an ill defined enemy proves that your actions have been ill-advised and disastrous. The exodus of hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children is reminiscent of the mass departure in 1948.

We are convinced that Pakistan has finally relented to United States pressure and unleashed its military against its own population. By using CIA drone aircraft, over a thousand people, mostly civilians, have perished and 1.5 million left destitute and homeless. Callously the military has proclaimed victory over its defenceless tribesmen, who have been mislabelled the “Taliban”. A deeply frustrated Washington will tear Pakistan apart in an effort to end the  resistance of the indigenous inhabitants of the area.

The concerns that  Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal may fall into the “wrong hands” are unfounded. The real danger is the United States acting like an enraged bull in a China shop and forcing Islamabad to make war on its own people. Pakistan could end up like Iraq – split, powerless and dependent

We call upon the political hierarchy in Pakistan to provide the leadership  that is required so that this unnecessary human tragedy may be avoided and the well being of the civilian population preserved and protected. They should provide the framework through which Pakistan’s honour and dignity in the eyes of the world will be sheltered and sealed.

‘This ploy is designed to demonize media activists, analysts, authors ..’

By Iqbal Jassat – Pretoria

The perception that many American policies are influenced by Israel has been given a further boost with the latest attempt by the US Congress to silence free speech.

The current move to ‘cleanse’ the airwaves involves pro-Israeli members of the congress who are in the process of submitting a bill that seeks to target satellite stations as “terrorist organizations”.

The proposed bill is viewed as Israel’s on-going efforts to stem the tide of widespread support Palestinians have received following the Gaza disaster spawned by the apartheid state’s inhumane war.

Graphic details and gruesome40of victims of Israeli brutality have also resulted in global outrage resulting in condemnation of these war crimes and demands for the prosecution of the perpetrators.
