Following the first ‘Day of Rage’ against the planned uprooting of tens of thousands of Palestinian Bedouin in the Naqab (Negev) on July 15, Palestinian activists inside Israel have called a second ‘Day of Rage’ for August 1.
On July 15, thousands of Palestinian citizens of Israel along with Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and regional refugee camps, held numerous demonstrations against the so-called Prawer Plan being advanced by the Israeli government. Protesters – including Palestinian Members of the Israeli Knesset, marched, blocked roads, and were violently dispersed by security services (including several arrests).

This second ‘Day of Rage’ promises to be even bigger, as Palestinians assert their opposition to a plan condemned just this week by UN human rights chief Navi Pillay.

The Prawer Plan, which passed its first reading in the Knesset in June 2013, aims to confiscate 800,000 dunums of land in the Naqab desert, expel over 50,000 Palestinian Bedouins, demolish 35 unrecognized villages and confine 30% of Palestinian Bedouins in the Naqab to 1% of the land.

Palestinians argue this is a new Nakba, or ‘catastrophe’, the word used to describe the ethnic cleansing of 1947-’49.

The declaration issued by the Palestinian youth says: “Dozens of Palestinians were either injured in peaceful demonstrations or arrested since July 15 by the Israeli occupation forces, yet the Anger Strike is far from over. We are determined to continue protesting daily and to raise international awareness for the plight of our Palestinian Bedouin brothers and sisters. The Prawer Plan is the biggest impending ethnic cleansing campaign against Palestinians by Israel since 1948, and the new generation of Palestine will not let that happen again.”

The ‘Day of Rage’ on 1 August will take place at the Wadi A’ara junction in the north (17:00) and the Lehavim Junction in the Naqab (16:00).

Under Hashtags: #StopPrawerPlan and #AugustRage  #برافر_لن_يمر  و #آب_الغضب events will take place as the following:
