The Media Review Network (MRN) was invited to attended a conference of NGO’s held in Beirut, Lebanon, on the 1st,2nd and 3rd of December 2014.The theme of the conference was the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine under the auspices of the Beirut NGO, Al Awdah.

The MRN was represented by Executive Member Dr. Firoz Osman and Senior researcher Ibrahim Vawda. About 100 participants from 33 countries were present. Leaders from various groups presented papers which highlighted the solidarity work done in their regions within each country. The solidarity was in keeping with the objective of returning to Palestine.

Africa was represented by Senegal, Ghana, Mali, Tunisia, South Africa  amongst others. The Senegalese delegate indicated that they were organising a ship to Gaza sometime in 2015.He invited other African countries to join the project.

The Conference concluded with three very powerful messages for the world and the Zionist entity in particular:

1.The spirit of resistance of the Palestinian people will never succumb to any form of oppression, occupation or military threat.

2.An impassioned plea for unity among all factions of Palestinian civil society. Special appeal was made to the political factions to find common ground and to unite.

3. A call for unity among members of the Ummah was clearly heard from all delegates who reminded the participants that sectarianism was man made and has no Divine basis. We should therefore avoid this trend at all cost.
