POEM: Give Thanks and Remember by Johannesburg-based spoken word artist and human rights activist Raadia Khan

Say: Charity but increases me

Remember the children please…

Muslim People are suffering, starving, suppressed and oppressed from:

Afghanistan to Algeria

Bosnia to Burma

Chechnya to Congo to China

Egypt to Ethiopia

France, the UK and the US

Indonesia to Iraq to Iran and the Ivory Coast

Jordan

Karachi to Kashmir to Kuwait

Libya to Lebanon

Mali

Nigeria

Palestine to Pakistan

Russia

Somalia to Sudan and Syria

Tunisia

Yemen

And

Your doorstep!!!

Those who celebrate, should give thanks …

You who have Adornments…

Give Thanks and Remember

Those in Adversity

You who have warm Bed…

Give thanks and Remember

Those who are bombed and bleeding

You in Comfort…

Give thanks and Remember

Those residing in cemeteries

You who have no Disabilities…

Give thanks and Remember

Those disabled

You who have been Enabled…

Give thanks and Remember

Those enslaved

You who are Free…

Give thanks and Remember

Those under fire

You who are yet to enter your graves…

Give thanks and Remember

Those who grieve their loved ones

You who have Homes, food luxury and excess…

Give thanks and Remember

Those homeless,hungry and thirsty

You who are Greedy and Guilty…

Give thanks and Remember

Those imprisoned and jailed unjustly

You who have Knowledge, impart…

Give thanks and Remember

Those prevented from seeking knowledge

You who Love…

Give thanks and Remember

Those who have lost

You who can freely enter a Mosque….

Give thanks and Remember

Those mercilessly murdered and massacred

You who Nag…

Give thanks and Remember

Those with Nothing

You who have Observed fast…

Give thanks and Remember

Those oppressed

You who offers Prayer…

Give thanks and Remember

Those in persecution

You who reads Quran, take heed…

Give thanks and Remember

Those in quarrel and disunity

You who are able to Rest…

Give thanks and Remember

Those resisting

You who can Sleep…

Give thanks and Remember

Those subjugated and suffering

You who think you have Troubles…

Give thanks and Remember

Those in tortured and in turmoil

You who have Serenity…

Give thanks and Remember

Those under siege

You who are Vigilant, pray for Victory…

Give thanks and Remember

Those who are victims of violence

You who constantly Wants…

Give thanks and Remember

Those without

You who are excited and ecstatic about the arrival of Eid…

Give thanks and Remember

Those attacked by Xenophobes, exiled and exterminated

You who survived Yesterday…

Give thanks and Remember

Those yearning for peace

You now have the A – Z, so

Give thanks and Remember to pray to He who is free from all need

“Give from what We have provideth thee”

In order to improve upon the circumstances of

Those in need of your Duaa, Fidyah, Fitra, Sadaqah and Zakaah…
