The Media Review Network South Africa is appalled by the recent acts of violence unleashed upon peaceful protesters at Gold Reef City on the evening of the 15th April 2013.

The acts of violence have been clearly attributed to the notorious Jewish Community Security Organization (CSO) who acted under the mandate of the South African Zionist Federation (SAZF) and the South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD).

It is indeed a tragic day when a private security outfit such as the CSO implement draconian methods to suppress non-violent acts of protest ranging from brutal assaults to hooding and binding the hands of protesters as has been reported. These recent acts of violence that sought to actively undermine the constitutional right to protest casts a poor light on the CSO and is indicative of lawless behaviour on their part. The taking of matters into their own hands is of grave concern to the South African community.

The Media Review Network South Africa calls on the authorities to investigate this serious matter and reign in the CSO as well as the organisations for which this outfit has acted. We place on record our disgust at the acts of violence unleashed upon peaceful protesters and call for justice to be served.
