A MESSAGE ON THE OCCASION OF EID-UL-ADHA 1441. (AUGUST 2020)

Bismillah hir rahma nir Rahim.

All praise to the Almighty for the blessing and benediction which enables us to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on the 10th Zul Hijjah 1441. As with everything in Islam, we dedicate this joyous occasion in the remembrance and worship of Allah Rab-ul-Izzat.

During the performance of Hajj we proclaim to the Almighty that we are in His presence, that He has no partners and He is the sovereign power over all of creation. This covenant with our Creator must remain with us for always so that it is not interpreted as a ritual which is forgotten as soon as we complete the Hajj.

Eid-ul-Adha is a time for sacrifice and forms an integral part of practical Islam. Sacrifice teaches discipline. Through sacrifice we are able to control the ego so that we do not surrender ourselves to the desires of the Nafs (the ego). If we lose our way in the jungle of consumerism, the performance of Hajj becomes a deliberate distortion of this pillar of Islam.

This pilgrimage has significant relevance for all Muslims. Leaders, scholars and students. Male and female. It is established through Divine ordinance. As such, no room is left open for the believer to take into consideration his/her passion and personal interests. It prevents the believer from showing any good will or preference toward the community or national interest. These are considered as chains and a believer is expected to break these handcuffs. For the administration of justice he should fear non except Allah Rab-ul-Izzat. Thus we are reminded by our Creator that we should speak justly and fulfil His covenant. The Beloved Nabi Muhammed (SAW) also repeated the same when he said : “this Ummah will continue to remain prosperous when it speaks the truth and judges with justice”.

It would be appropriate to conclude this message with a favourite prayer of the Nabi of Allah (SAW): “Oh Allah You are Peace, peace emanates from You and returns to You, let us live in peace and enter Paradise, the abode of peace”.
